Why ReSound Nexia leads for public streaming

ReSound is a Danish hearing aid brand owned by GN Store Nord, one of the six largest manufacturers in the world. What sets Nexia apart is that ReSound was the first company to ship a hearing aid with full support for Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast reception. This matters because Auracast is the emerging public-broadcast standard that lets any venue send audio directly to nearby Bluetooth LE Audio devices. Think about how helpful that is when a flight delay announcement, church sermon, or gym class instruction is otherwise hard to hear over background noise.

Auracast is rolling out in stages across the country. Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans (MSY) has piloted Bluetooth broadcast for gate announcements. Churches with hearing loops are starting to add Auracast broadcast alongside legacy loops. Universities and conference centers are next. Over the next 2-3 years, patients with Auracast-ready hearing aids will notice they can just "tune in" to public announcements without struggling to hear over PA distortion.

Nexia is not the only brand adding LE Audio support. Phonak, Oticon, and others are catching up. But Nexia shipped first and has the most mature implementation as of 2026. If public streaming is your top priority, Nexia is the current pick.

The trade-off: Nexia is not the most aggressive on noise suppression in loud restaurants. That crown belongs to Phonak Audeo Sphere Infinio. If restaurants and noisy family dinners are your biggest complaint, we will steer you to Phonak instead. If your biggest complaint is airports, church PA systems, gym classes, or large conference rooms, Nexia is our pick.

Current ReSound models we fit

ReSound Nexia (adult, first-line)

Nexia is a receiver-in-canal device and our most-fit ReSound model. Rechargeable-only, about 24 hours per charge without streaming, 20 hours with streaming. That is a longer battery life than most competitors. Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast reception built in, plus full iPhone (MFi) and Android (ASHA) compatibility. Built-in T-coil for legacy hearing loops. Motion tracking through the ReSound Smart 3D app.

What we like: Nexia's Auracast leadership is real. It is not a spec-sheet feature yet. Patients who spend time at large venues, in transit, or in houses of worship notice the difference in the first month. What to know: Nexia's noise-in-crowd performance is balanced, not aggressive. It preserves natural sound scene rather than aggressively stripping background noise. Patients whose top complaint is restaurants often prefer Phonak.

ReSound OMNIA (previous generation, still supported)

OMNIA was the ReSound flagship before Nexia and remains available for existing OMNIA patients who need replacements or upgrades. OMNIA is a solid balanced hearing aid but does not have full Auracast reception. We do not first-fit OMNIA anymore. If you already wear OMNIA and are happy, we service them. If you are new to ReSound, we go straight to Nexia.

ReSound ENZO Q (severe to profound, super-power BTE)

ENZO Q is a super-power behind-the-ear device for adults with severe to profound loss. Available with disposable battery for maximum output. Compatible with the ReSound Multi Mic remote-microphone system for one-on-one conversations. For patients on the edge of cochlear implant candidacy, ENZO Q is one of the three super-power devices we consider alongside Phonak Naida and Oticon Xceed.

How a ReSound fit works at ACI

1. Full audiological workup. Air conduction, bone conduction, speech-in-noise, tympanometry, and if indicated, otoacoustic emissions. This tells us your loss shape and how much room there is for improvement with amplification.
2. Discussion and recommendation. We walk you through the top 2-3 brands that fit your audiogram, lifestyle, and budget. ReSound Nexia is often on that list, especially if you spend meaningful time in public streaming environments. If a different brand fits better we say so.
3. Prescriptive fit with real-ear measurement. We do not just plug in the manufacturer's first-fit software. We use a probe microphone in your ear canal to measure the actual output at your eardrum and match it to a validated prescription (NAL-NL2 for adults). Only about 30% of dispensers actually do this. Every ACI fit gets REM verification.
4. 45-day trial and follow-up fine-tuning. You wear the devices in your real life. We fine-tune based on what you notice. Included in the fee.
5. 3-year manufacturer warranty and 3-year loss-and-damage coverage on premium tiers.

ReSound Nexia ranges from about $2,500 per pair (Essential tier) to $7,300 per pair (Premium tier) depending on technology level. OMNIA and ENZO Q price similarly. All prices include real-ear measurement verification, follow-up fine-tuning through the trial period, and 3-year manufacturer warranty.
