Could you benefit from a cochlear implant?
Cochlear implants help adults with with severe to profound hearing loss in both ears, or children 12 months or older with moderate to profound hearing loss in both ears and are not receiving enough benefit when using hearing aids. Although there is no cure for hearing loss, the cochlear implant has become widely recognized as an established treatment for those with profound hearing loss.1
Use your natural hearing with Cochlear™ Hybrid™ Hearing.
Cochlear Hybrid Hearing* is a combination of two proven technologies. The first technology is acoustic amplification.of the low- frequency natural hearing you have after surgery. The second is our innovative Cochlear Implant technology that provides access to the high-frequency sounds you’re missing, for a richer hearing experience. Hybrid Hearing is compatible with our wide Nucleus Electrode portfolio.
If you experience ski-slope hearing loss where you have normal to moderate low-frequency hearing loss before surgery, but severe to profound high-frequency hearing loss, the Cochlear Nucleus Hybrid Implant System may be a solution. The Hybrid System uses a special electrode** that is designed to preserve your low-frequency hearing and it’s the first FDA-approved electrode of its kind.
For many people, cochlear implants can:1
Improve auditory awareness of sounds at levels within the normal range of hearing
Improve speech and language skills
Improve quality of life
Improve employment opportunities2
How a Cochlear Implant works.
There are two primary components of the Cochlear™ Nucleus® System: the external sound processor and the implant that is surgically placed underneath the skin and attached to an electrode that’s inserted in the inner ear (cochlea).
How Hybrid Hearing works.
Cochlear Hybrid Hearing* is a combination of hearing aid and cochlear implant technologies. It uses acoustic amplification of the natural low-frequency hearing you may have after surgery, while taking advantage of cochlear implant technology to restore access to the high-frequency sounds you’re missing.
There are Two Main Parts of The Nucleus Implant System
An external sound processor
…and an internal implant.
Baha 5 Sound Processor
Designed to help those with conductive hearing loss, mixed hearing loss and single-sided deafness, the Cochlear™ Baha® System utilizes your body’s natural ability to conduct sound. By connecting to the bone behind your ear, the Baha System bypasses the damaged outer or middle ear and sends sound directly to your healthy inner ear.
A study of cochlear implant recipients participating in a trial of the Nucleus 7 Sound Processor found:
100 percent of users reported they were satisfied or very satisfied with the Nucleus 7 Sound Processor and its components13
94 percent reported the Nucleus 7 Sound Processor as comfortable or very comfortable to wear13
87 percent reported they found it easier to control/monitor the Nucleus 7 Sound Processor with the Nucleus Smart App than with a remote control13
85 percent reported listening to music to be enjoyable or very enjoyable with the Nucleus 7 Sound Processor13
